Ask About Isa
A conversational companion to Questions Muslims Ask Christians — a quiet, respectful space to ask honest questions about Jesus (Isa al-Masih), the Bible, and the Christian faith.
The Backstory
A Friendship-First Beginning
The seed of the book was planted not in a classroom but on a front porch. J.P. Knight and his wife deliberately moved into an Arab neighborhood — home to many Muslim families. Around kitchen tables with hot tea and hospitable neighbors, Knight began building real friendships with men and women of the Islamic faith.
These weren't academic relationships. They were the kind forged over shared meals and genuine curiosity about each other's beliefs. For too long, Knight observed, Christians and Muslims had allowed third parties to define one to the other — leaving both sides "mutually diminished and one-dimensional."
Ask About Isa is the natural extension of that porch — a place where the conversation continues, online, with the same warmth and honesty.
Two Convictions
Why Another Conversation
Talk TO Each Other, Not ABOUT Each Other
In a shrinking world where neighbors, classrooms, and workplaces are shared, the old habit of Christians and Muslims talking about each other has become both discourteous and intellectually dishonest. The time has come to talk to and with each other.
Read the Books We Cherish for Ourselves
Given the ultra-serious messages of both the Bible and the Qur'an — messages with eternal consequences — it is irresponsible to delegate one's understanding entirely to teachers, imams, or group-think. Read your own scripture. Read your neighbor's.
How the Questions Were Gathered
132 Honest Questions
As part of a doctoral project, Knight obtained permission to speak at Friday Jummah prayer services at three local mosques. He distributed pens and paper to everyone present and asked a single, disarmingly simple question:
"If you could sit down with a devout Christian and ask any question about our beliefs or practices, what would you ask? Don't worry about offending anyone. Just be honest."
The response was remarkable: 132 questions in total. Nearly half focused on God — including the Trinity and the nature of Jesus (Isa al-Masih). Those questions shape the very structure of the book — and of Ask About Isa.
132 Questions
Knight gathered the questions in the book directly from worshippers at three local mosques during Friday Jummah prayers — not invented, but collected with care.
Two Decades of Friendship
The book grew out of life lived in an Arab neighborhood and long friendships with Muslim scholars including Imam Dr. Sahibzadah and Dr. Faizur Choudhury.
A Companion Online
Ask About Isa brings that same spirit of honest, unhurried conversation online — a place to ask the questions you've always wanted to ask about Isa al-Masih.
The Guiding Spirit
"When we agree, let's celebrate.
When we disagree, let's investigate.
In everything, let's appreciate."
"Our friendship will not be contingent upon our agreement."
